Dear Hannah,
Make your dreams come true through direct, strategic action.
Move your character towards faith and love through humility and confidence.
Move with coordination and balance.
Move those you influence through thought leadership.

"LEarning (Move)"
By Derrick Brown
4-27-2019
[Intro / Hook - 8 Bars]
this dream is all (that) I have
- but it's all I need
hurry up and wait
Ready, set - then proceed
'got a long way to go
ain't nothing guaranteed_
_LEarning to follow is
the only way you learn to lead
I'll get what's mine when it's time
if I sow a seed
my peace (piece) of mind says
I'm kinda a different breed
gotta grind till I find
how to build up speed
'every step I take
helps me to_succeed_
[Chorus - 4 Bars]
_and move ... get out of your own way
move ... say what you need to say
move ... work hard but then go pray
move ... make sure you start today
[VERSE 1 - 12 Bars Left]
[get out of your own way ... say what you need to say]
I'm a bad bad man
but please understand
I'm bad 'cause I was worse
& had to break a curse
of puttin myself first
in every rhyme and verse
but then the bubble burst
had to quench a thirst
hit_the_brakes_throw_it_in_reverse
' no_mo_angry_outburst
'I still speak my piece
as I speak my peace
through healing and release
I let the battle cease
I do because I don't
I will because I won't
I am because I'm not
stay cool 'cause I'm still hot
I know that I don't know
study_up so I can show
a way we can follow
a humble path to grow
[rest for 12th bar - wind up for chorus with "that's my story, y'all"]

wheels are turnin &
I know I'm LEarnin' &
my heart is burnin' &
my feet are churnin' but
I get this feelin' that
although I'm dealin' that
I hit the ceilin' then
feel like I'm reelin' so I
get back to kneelin' &
I keep on healin' &
He starts revealin' what
I am concealin' then
I start confessin' &
I start addressin' &
I get that blessin' when
I learn that lesson &
I start assessin' &
stop all the guessin' &
I keep processin' &
I keep progressin' &
I keep finessin' & (handling things subtly and skillfully)
keep on impressin' &
[rest for 12th bar - wind up for chorus with "... then rinse & repeat"]

About Derrick Brown (Standup Storyteller)
I am Keisha's husband, and Hannah's father.
I am a “standup storyteller.”
I fuse rap, spoken word (poetry), oration (traditional public speaking), singing, and teaching into messages of hope, healing, and change that I write, direct, and produce to help people who help people.
Everything must change - and stay changED.
Tradition begins and ends with change.
Change begins with me and the renewing of my mind ... then continues through efforts to effect small-group discipleship (equipping others to equip others) with audiences that respect and embrace mentoring, mediation, and problem solving as tools of change.
I am the product of my mentoring relationships, peacemaking (and peacekeeping), and problem-solving ability.
My education began when I finished school.
After school, I enrolled in a lifelong curriculum that includes classes in ministry, entrepreneurship, stewardship, literacy, numeracy, language, self-identity, self-expression, and analysis / synthesis.
My projects execute a ministry that has evolved from wisdom earned through lessons learned.
I want to share this wisdom to build teams of "triple threat" fellows - mentors, mediators, and problem solvers.
We will collaborate in simple, powerful ways that allow us to help people who help people.
I now know that power is work done efficiently (with wise and skillful use of resources, interests, communication, and expertise).
